Pakistan is building a climate economy. The money hasn’t caught up yet.

Pakistan's energy transition didn't come from a government plan or an international development programme. It came from households and businesses buying solar panels, one at a time, until solar became the country's single largest source of electricity, accounting for around a quarter of all generation by 2025.¹

Nobody planned it or funded it at scale. It happened because the need was too urgent to wait. That’s the most visible part of something larger. Across cooling, water, energy, agriculture, waste, and materials, Pakistan’s founders are building climate solutions under conditions that are genuinely demanding.

Summers that regularly hit 50°C. Monsoons that don’t behave predictably. Air quality that shapes how entire cities function. An irrigation system fed by more glacial ice than anywhere outside the poles.

These are the operating conditions that produce a different kind of innovation. Ventures are emerging that are resourceful, resilient, and increasingly relevant to a world that is rapidly facing the same climate pressures.

Here’s some of what’s being built right now.

EV charging networks scaled for a market where grid reliability can’t be assumed. Water delivery systems rebuilt on sensors and routing software. Forecasting tools for agricultural sectors that can’t access reliable weather data. Recycling businesses that are genuinely profitable. Energy solutions designed from the ground up for intermittency.

The demand isn’t in question, the capital to meet it, at the earliest stage, largely isn’t there yet.

Pakistan contributes less than 1% of global greenhouse gas emissions, yet ranks among the top ten most climate-vulnerable nations on earth.² The funding infrastructure is beginning to form, international accelerators are arriving, policy frameworks are taking shape, and dedicated climate funds are starting to emerge.

Startup funding in Pakistan rose 121% in 2025, reaching $74 million, though from a very low base.³ But early-stage, founder-focused capital remains as a gap to be filled. The founders building right now deserve backing.

That’s the gap Aletheia Impact exists to close.

We provide non-dilutive capital to early-stage climate founders in Pakistan through a prize model, alongside the global networks and narrative support that help their work travel. Our one test: climate has to be the point of the business, not a co-benefit. Beyond that, we’re open on sector, open on model, and looking for the businesses who are building because the problem is too urgent not to.
